I had RLE. Really, I couldn’t be more happy because my eyes were totally a worry for me all the time. Now, I don’t have to go around all the time, my contact’s stuck to my eye, my eye is dry today I can’t wear it. It’s just – I can see. It’s amazing. I think doing it elective when I did now, versus waiting until I was older, made a difference. Because I think my recovery time was faster. And also leading up to it, I was trying to exercise and do all the right things and just be healthier going into it. If you’re thinking about it and you’ve been wearing contacts or glasses, or you’ve been struggling with distance or reading, it is a great procedure to have because it just fixes everything. And you don’t have to worry about glasses and contacts and traveling with your supplies. It just makes a very big day-to-day difference in your life.

Did you know that some people are able to see better than 20/15? This is because their retinas have exceptionally tight cone spacing in the very center of the eye. Their photoreceptors are packed a little more closely than average, giving them the ability to detect finer detail than most people can. I have Japan coming up … and I’m so nervous because I think contacts and glasses was a big part of a whole packing situation. It’s just so hard to do. So it’s less packing for that and more packing for Japan. This is one day after SMILE and I’m seeing 20/20. I could drive here. My light sensitivity is okay. I was bored at home for the first day, but I am a-okay. I see about 20/20!

SMILE typically takes longer for vision to sharpen compared to LASIK – Laura was 20/20 one day after her SMILE procedure, but at her one week post-op visit we discovered she had 20/15 vision! We were so excited for Laura to give her clear vision with SMILE so that she could enjoy all of the sights and beauty of Japan.

When I first went to the doctor not being able to see, I think I was 7 or 8. I just wanted to have no glasses. Surgery went well – A little interesting at first, didn’t know what to think, but it went really well. Dr. Bansal and [staff] are talking to you the whole time. It’s exciting that I’m able to just wake up now and I can see everything! Really cool. I would say go for it. it could be a little daunting at first, but I think once you actually get in here and speak to everybody you’ll really enjoy it. Especially not having to wear glasses or contacts.

I have worn glasses since I was 11 months old and then contact lenses over the years, and I finally am able to have RLE surgery [PanOptix Pro]. I had my second eye done a week ago, and my vision is incredible. I wake up in the morning and no longer have to reach for glasses. So it’s been life changing, it’s been great. I was worried about the halos and things that I’ve read online about other lenses, but I luckily have not had any of those issues, so it’s been great. I had a really high prescription and I had in the past inquired about LASIK, but it was never an option for me. I think I had a couple of things going on. So, this technology has come along that has made me a solid candidate. I was just waiting for the right time, and I’m so so happy that I went ahead with it. It’s absolutely worth the money. It’s completely life-changing, so I would say do it!

I couldn’t see at all without contacts or glasses and wanted to try improving my vision. I’m excited to not have to worry about carrying my contacts or my glasses with me all the time, especially when I’m traveling. I am now even able to see better than I used to before contacts and glasses.
