Dry eye typically takes one of two forms.
The first form is what most people believe dry eye is, namely a lack of tears. However, the majority of patients have a condition called evaporative dry eye, where the oil layer of the tears is insufficient to prevent excessive evaporation. Patients with evaporative dry eye find that artificial tears aren’t enough to keep their eyes from feeling red, itchy, or gritty.
We can provide a few treatment options for either form of dry eye, including dietary supplements and medicine like Restasis.
