LASIK is a great way for people to see life without the demands of glasses or the annoyance of contact lenses . Now with the advancement of all-laser LASIK the procedure is even more precise and customizable. However, not everyone is a great LASIK candidate. Take our LASIK Self Test to start the process.
LASIK – the acronym for Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, refers to a vision correction procedure in which a laser reshapes the cornea. During LASIK eye surgery, a femtosecond laser creates a thin flap from the surface of the cornea. This newer laser takes the place of the microkeratome blade that is used in traditional LASIK. This flap is lifted and an excimer laser then reshapes the underlying corneal tissue to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and/or astigmatism. The corneal flap is then set back into place without sutures. The cornea will now focus light more precisely on the retina and images will be seen more sharply. Most patients notice a dramatic improvement immediately after their LASIK procedure which only improve over the first few weeks.
The cost of LASIK in San Francisco can vary depending on the technology used, experience of surgeon and level of outcomes. The price range for LASIK in San Francisco is $2400-$3600 per eye.
Before determining if you are a good candidate for LASIK or other vision correction procedures, our LASIK eye doctors will do a thorough eye health exam complete with the measurements necessary for LASIK candidacy. If LASIK is not right for you we will discuss the possibility of the other vision corrections procedures.
Our LASIK Technology is second to none. We offer Blade-Free and Wavefront technology for our LASIK patients. Additionally, eye tracking technology makes LASIK safer than ever before. Eye tracking allows our lasers used during LASIK surgery to compensate for eye movements during the procedure, thus adding an important level of assurance.
We offer you our Peace of Mind Promise. We promise our surgeons are some of the most experienced in the area. We promise they will use the most advanced all-laser LASIK technology. And we promise our friendly, professional staff will be with you every step of the way. How’s that for peace of mind?
LASIK is also safer than contact lenses according to many sources. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) wearing contact lenses is associated with higher risks of infectious keratitis. On the other hand, LASIK was actually approved by the FDA more that 25 years ago and has a tremendous safety record. LASIK and other modern vision correction surgeries done here at LaserVue Eye Center are even the choice for active U.S. military personnel. Now that’s even more peace of mind!
